At age 37, Barry thought it was high time to get his physical health in check, especially with his 40th birthday in sight. He called Nielsen Fitness and now, at age 41, he has never felt or looked better. Here’s his story:
What motivated you to pursue personal training, and what led you to call us?
My wife was the one who found you guys. We were sitting at dinner one night, and she pitched the idea of getting into shape. I was 37 at the time, 40 was on the horizon, so I said let’s do it. After all, they say it’s best to get your physical house in order before 40, so my wife reached out and I’ve been going strong ever since.
What do you like most about working with Nielsen Fitness?
The fact that you guys come to my condo gym is amazing. I’m getting different routines each time, there’s no repetitiveness where things start getting stale. My trainer doesn’t let me slack at all – you could say he’s there to crack the whip, which is needed to get to that next level. I’ve had nothing but a super positive experience, extremely professional, and great results.
Why do you think you’ve been selected as client of the month?
Well, I have been upping my game recently, trying to get in two sessions per week instead of one. I’ve shed 25lbs since beginning the journey back in June of 2015 and I’ve never felt better. I’m 41 now and I would say I’ve never looked this good, so I want to keep going on this track. I have some personal goals for myself – I want to gain more strength and size, especially in the chest. I think it’s been my motivation and dedication to achieve my goals that got me selected.
What advice would you give someone who is in the same place you were 4 years ago?
I would say you should’ve started 5 years earlier, but of course you can’t turn back time. Just begin with the end in mind, have an idea of what you want to look like and go for it.
What things do you value from your Nielsen Fitness experience?
The trainers have been amazing. My current trainer is always on time, has never cancelled an appointment on me, even our Saturday morning sessions at 6am. He is 100% dependable, and equally as likeable, which makes it easier to want to workout at 6am on a Saturday – or anytime in general. I’ve had a few different trainers with Nielsen Fitness and it’s been the same experience across the board.
