Our Philosophy | Nielsen Fitness

At Nielsen Fitness, we pride ourselves on our unique and holistic approach to health and fitness.  Below we’ve outlined just some of our beliefs about personal training and the importance of fitness.

The importance of exercise:

Everyone knows that exercise can help burn fat and build muscle. But did you know that the benefits of regular exercise go way beyond the obvious? Combined with healthy nutritional choices, exercise – strength training in particular - can prevent a number of illnesses including osteoporosis, depression, vertebral disk degeneration, headaches, arthritis, hypertension, memory loss, type 2 diabetes, and more.

Our philosophy on personal training:

  1. Personal trainers are not just for the rich and famous! Anyone – including you – can benefit from working out with a trainer. In addition to keeping you motivated and pushing you to get the most out of each session, it's our job to make sure your workouts are safe and effective – two essential elements of any fitness plan. Your Nielsen Fitness trainer will make sure you are setting realistic fitness goals for yourself and will set you on a path for success. In addition, you'll get the tools and advice you need to eat a well balanced, healthy and nutritious diet.

  2. A good workout is based on effective design, not expensive exercise equipment. If you have a full gym, or nothing but an exercise mat, we can teach you how to use what you’ve got to achieve results.

  3. No two workouts should be the same. One of the main reasons people don't stick with their exercise routines is boredom, which is why Nielsen Fitness is committed to making your sessions dynamic, fun and fresh: you will never do the same workout twice.

A few words on choosing a trainer:

Unfortunately, personal training is not a regulated industry. Because of this, the level of education, training and experience can vary widely from trainer to trainer.

A good trainer is well educated; should know what is safe and what isn't for individuals of every age and fitness level; should be open minded and willing to listen; have good knowledge of medications, injuries, and physical and metabolic disorders; and lastly should have a good network of physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists to call upon and for referral purposes.

Personality is also very important - your trainer should be a good communicator who is approachable and available to you. So ask a lot of questions, and don't hesitate to check past references and education.

It is our guarantee that all of our fitness professionals meet the requirements listed above - and more.  Feel free to contact us to learn more about our team or to set up a free consultation.
